1. Who we are
JoinedMove ("we") is an app to do sports together: find activities near you, organise them yourself or join a club or your employer. This privacy policy explains which personal data we process, why, and what rights you have.
JoinedMove is not yet a registered company. The app is run by the founder of JoinedMove, who is responsible for processing your data. As soon as JoinedMove is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK), we will add the company name, address and registration number here. Questions about your data can be sent through the contact form at the bottom of this page.
2. Data we process
We only process what is needed to do sports together. We never show your location or personal email address to other users.
- Account: email address, encrypted password, username, avatar, language, chosen sports and home city, notification settings and whether your profile is public or private.
- Social media links: your Instagram username and Strava link, only if you add them yourself.
- Activities: activities you create (title, sport, date, time, start address, distance, notes, route as a GPX file) and the ones you join.
- Messages and photos: chat messages in activities and pages, and photos and claps after an activity.
- Pages and membership: pages you create or manage, pages you are a member of and the plan (Free, Club Pro or Business).
- Work email (company pages): the work email address you use to confirm your membership or the company page.
- Following and blocking: who you follow, who follows you and who you have blocked.
- Reports: reports you make about people, activities, pages or messages, with reason and explanation.
- Contact requests: name, organisation, email address and message sent through a contact form.
- Technical data: app error reports, with the screen, the error message and the type of device and browser.
- Push notifications: a technical code for your device so we can send notifications, if you allow them.
We only use your live location on your own device, to show activities near you. We do not store that location. Addresses you type to search are sent to a search service (see section 4).
3. Why we use your data
We use your data to make the app work, keep it safe and improve it. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
- Account, login and profile: performance of the contract (the app's terms of use).
- Activities, pages, chats, photos and memberships: performance of the contract.
- Confirming membership of a company page with your work email: performance of the contract.
- Push notifications, such as a reminder 2 hours before an activity: consent, which you can withdraw in your phone and in the app settings.
- Service emails, such as a confirmation link: performance of the contract.
- Handling reports, preventing abuse and blocking: legitimate interest: a safe app for everyone.
- Finding errors and improving the app: legitimate interest: an app that works well.
- Answering contact requests: legitimate interest, or preparing a contract.
4. Who sees what and who we share data with
Other users only see what belongs to doing sports together. Service providers only get what they need to run their part of the app.
What other users see
- Profile: your username, avatar, Instagram and Strava links (if added), how often you joined and since when you are a member.
- Activities: the activities you create and join, unless your profile is private or the activity is for page members only.
- Messages and photos: your messages in an activity or page chat, and your photos and claps afterwards, for anyone allowed to see that activity or page.
What managers of a club or company page see
- They do see: who is a member, who signs up for the page's activities, and an overview with numbers and the most active members within that page.
- They do not see: your work email, your personal email, your location or your activities outside the page (except what anyone sees on a public profile). More on the Privacy for business page (/business/privacy).
Service providers
- Base44: hosting and storage of the app, login, email and push notifications. Processes all data from section 2.

- Komoot (Photon) and OpenStreetMap (Nominatim): searching addresses and places. Receive the address or place you type, through our server.

- Google Calendar: adding an activity to your calendar, only when you click it yourself.
- Stripe (in the future): paying for Club Pro or Business, only if you take a paid plan.
Some service providers may process data outside the European Union. Otherwise we only share data when the law requires us to.
5. How long we keep data

6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have these rights. Send a request through the contact form; we respond within one month.
- Access: know which data we hold about you.
- Rectification: have incorrect data corrected. Much of it you can change yourself in your profile.
- Erasure: have your account and data deleted. You can also do this yourself, under Settings.
- Restriction and objection: object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Portability: receive your data in a common file format.
- Withdraw consent: for example by turning off push notifications on your phone or in the app.
Don't agree with how we handle your data? You can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
7. Security
All connections to the app are encrypted (HTTPS) and passwords are stored encrypted. Sensitive data, such as participant lists of closed activities, work email confirmations and reports, can only be accessed through secured server functions or by the JoinedMove team.
8. Children
JoinedMove has no minimum age. People aged 16 and over do not need consent. If you are under 16, the law requires consent from your parent or guardian. Do you think we hold data of a child under 16 without that consent? Let us know and we will delete it.
9. Changes
When the app changes, we update this policy. The latest version is always in the app, with the date at the top. We will let you know in the app about major changes.
10. Contact
Send questions or requests about your data through the contact form below. As soon as JoinedMove has a fixed email address, we will list it here.
